After such a long separation during the coronavirus pandemic, Lab Innovations is an opportunity for the UK laboratory industry to come together, showcase their latest innovations and get business going again. Lab Innovations, which is celebrating its ninth edition this year, focuses on cutting-edge digital technology that increases the sustainability and efficiency of laboratories.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on jobs, especially for industries like food and beverage laboratories that faced challenges like lockdowns, social distancing, and increased health and safety requirements. New technologies and processes emerged through trial and error.

At the event, attendees can discover the latest in laboratory technology, source a wide range of products under one roof, and gain insight into data-driven case studies like that from Green Light Laboratories that are exploring the impact of sustainable initiatives in the laboratory.

“The sheer amount of heat generating equipment, containment and exhaust devices, and the essential uninterruptible power supply to protect irreplaceable experiments in a laboratory means that a facility typically uses five times more energy and water per square foot than a normal office building,” explains Andy Evans, director of Lab Sustainability Consultancy Green Light Laboratories. “By bringing the latest data on laboratory equipment sustainability to the Lab Innovations audience, I hope to encourage laboratory operators to transform their current product and process setups to be more sustainable.”

The exhibitors look forward to presenting their latest products and groundbreaking innovations at the 2021 trade fair. The exhibitors include Anton Paar, Cole-Parmer, CEM Microwave Technology, IKA, NOVACYT, Eppendorf UK, VWS UK, Julabo, Sartorius and Scientific Laboratory Supplies. The list also includes exciting newcomers such as Mettler Toledo, Edwards Vacuum, TMQA and BMM Weston.

“I’m really looking forward to the industry coming back together, so we can’t wait for the UK’s largest lab showcase to reopen in November,” commented Jaqueline Balian, Laboratory Manager at Gambica. “I’m curious what our innovative and future-oriented industry will come up with.”

“It’s an opportunity to talk to different people and see innovative and new things going on in the laboratory innovation space,” said Jeremy Parker, Senior Principal Scientist at AstraZeneca. “It’s an opportunity to interact with suppliers and talk about ways to try new things in laboratories.”
