Stardew Valley 'thriving more than ever' after topping 30 million sales

Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has announced that the country-life adventure game has surpassed 30 million in sales.

Barone made this revelation casually in a post on X, confirming that the highly anticipated 1.6 update will be released on March 19, 2024.

Originally announced in April 2023, the 1.6 update will primarily focus on enhancing the modding capabilities for players in Stardew Valley.

Taking a break from his upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier, Barone dedicated his time to developing the update, assuring fans that he will return to his new project soon.

"The scope of the 1.6 update ended up being larger than anticipated. I have finished adding major new content to it and it is now in the bug-fixing and polishing phase before its release. Thank you for your patience. I look forward to seeing everyone enjoy it," Barone mentioned on X earlier this year.

The update will first launch on PC and will then be rolled out to consoles and mobile platforms "as soon as possible." Reflecting on the continued success of Stardew Valley, which was released eight years ago, Barone expressed that the game is still thriving.

"With a new update on the horizon, a global concert tour underway, an official cookbook in the works, and over 30 million copies sold, Stardew Valley is thriving more than ever. I am forever grateful to the players (that's you!) for making all of this possible," he added. "Now, it's back to work. See you in three weeks."

Stardew Valley is currently accessible on various platforms including PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The game had already exceeded 20 million in sales as of May 2022.
