How to Purchase or Test the Apple Vision Pro $3,500 Headset

The highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro headset is now available for purchase to those who preordered it, or for testing in-person demos for those who want to try it out. Touted as the future of spatial computing, this AR/VR headset comes with a hefty price tag of $3,499 and lacks popular apps like Netflix and YouTube at its initial launch, though it does offer Disney+, Max, 150 3D movies, immersive films, and series. Initial estimates suggest that Apple may have sold between 160,000 and 180,000 headsets during the preorder weekend. While this number is lower than the typical iPhone rollout, there is a wave of early adopters eager to experience the headset when it officially launches on Friday.

Our first impressions of the Apple Vision Pro, as well as our ongoing review experience, have been impressive. However, it remains uncertain who the target audience for this headset is and what potential it holds as a regular device. Stay tuned for more comprehensive thoughts once we spend more time with the headset, and we'll provide recommendations on which apps to download for an enhanced experience.

Here's what you need to know to preorder your own Apple Vision Pro as the launch day approaches.

How to order the Apple Vision Pro

You can now place your order for the Apple Vision Pro on Apple's website. Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad to measure yourself for the Light Seal and headbands. You will also need to specify if you require optical inserts, with readers and prescription options priced at $99 and $149 respectively. Since the headset cannot be used with glasses, you must provide a valid comprehensive prescription detailing your distance and near correction needs, expiration date, name, date of birth, prescriber's license number, and signature. Reader inserts are available in +0.75 to +1.25D, +1.50 to +1.75D, and +2.00 to +2.75D.

Select the desired storage capacity, starting at 256GB for $3,499, 512GB for $3,699, and 1TB for $3,899.

Choose your payment method, whether to pay in full or opt for monthly installments starting at $291.58 with an Apple Card. You can also add AppleCare+ coverage for $499 or $24.99 per month. Choose to pick up the device from an Apple Store or have it delivered to your home for free once your order is complete.

In addition to the Apple Vision Pro headset, the preorder package includes a dual-loop adjustable band, a protective cover, a cleaning cloth, an external battery, a 30W USB-C adapter, and a USB-C charging cable.

How to try the Apple Vision Pro in-store

If you are undecided about investing in the expensive Vision Pro based on reviews and images, Apple offers 25-minute demos in select stores for a hands-on experience. Sign up for demos starting at 8:00 a.m. local time on February 2 at participating Apple retail locations on a first-come, first-served basis. In-store demos may extend beyond the weekend, and sign up with your Apple ID.

Given the anticipation surrounding the Vision Pro's launch, delivery timelines for recent preorders may be longer than expected, so check the estimated arrival or pickup times during checkout.
