Alcaraz suffers defeat in Queen's Club ahead of Wimbledon title defense

Carlos Alcaraz, the defending Queen's champion and top seed, suffered a setback in his Wimbledon preparation as he lost to Jack Draper 7-6 (3), 6-3 at Queen's Club on Thursday.

For Draper, the British No. 1, it was a significant win in his career and he showed impressive composure in front of his home crowd.

Last year, Queen's was Alcaraz's only grass-court warm-up before winning Wimbledon for the first time. However, this time he will have only two grass matches under his belt following his recent French Open victory. Wimbledon is set to begin in 11 days.

Draper ended Alcaraz's eight-match winning streak while extending his own to seven after claiming his first ATP title in Stuttgart last week.

In a tight match, Draper did not drop serve against Alcaraz and secured a break in the sixth game of the second set with a backhand return down the line. Alcaraz fought back but Draper eventually closed out the match and celebrated his victory on court.

Draper will now face fifth-seeded Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals, while Lorenzo Musetti will take on British wild card Billy Harris.

Additionally, Tommy Paul defeated Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday.
