Balatro sales soar to 500,000 copies in just 10 days
Nearly two weeks after its release, Balatro has now sold over 500,000 copies across all platforms.
The roguelike deckbuilder reached half a million sales within a few days of its launch, fueled by positive reviews and word of mouth. In just hours after its release, it had already generated $1 million in revenue.
The success of the game has been described as 'incredibly overwhelming' by its developer, LocalThunk. While not their first game overall, Balatro is the first one they have made available to a wider audience.
For publisher Playstack, Balatro stands as the most successful title in their portfolio since the company's inception eight years ago.
Balatro's bright future ahead
Despite facing challenges, including being delisted from certain regions due to concerns of gambling elements, Balatro continues to shine. Playstack had maintained that the game is not a gambling product, and the recent reevaluation from 3+ to 18+ age rating has caused some setbacks early on.
Nevertheless, Balatro is set to make a return to the Nintendo Switch in the affected regions later this week.
